IATA CBTA - 3-Day Recurrent Training (Air)

You must undergo recurrent DGR training every 24 months on the latest regulations and trends related to the carriage of dangerous goods all in accordance with the current edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations Manual 2023 64th edition. This course fulfills International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and International Air Transport Association (IATA) training requirements and qualifies you to handle and process dangerous goods for carriage by air for a 24-month period.

Under the new instructions, Category 3 and 6 is no longer being offered and have been replaced by competencies outlined in the Dangerous Goods Training Guidance Edition 1 2023 Competency-based Training and the Assessment Approach for Adapted Task Lists for Well-Defined Functions 7.1, 7.2, and 7.3.

This 3-day recurrent covers the below job functions as they align with the old Category 6 framework:

  • IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) for Preparing DG Consignments - Function 7.1
  • IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) for General Cargo Accepting and Processing Personnel - Function 7.2
  • IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) for Processing or Accepting DG Consignments - Function 7.3

This course is for anyone who handles or transports any dangerous goods, e.g. fuel and chemicals, by road in New Zealand and needs a D Endorsement. To get the endorsement, you need to complete this course and take your course certificate provided by IVS Training to a licensing agent (VTNZ, AA). The endorsement expires every 5 years and you must re-sit an assessment and have it endorsed on your license

This course is designed to provide you with the tools and knowledge to perform your daily tasks in relation to moving and handling dangerous goods by sea. It is Best Practice to also access and understand your organisation's specific procedures for storing and handling Dangerous Goods. This can be covered in more detail with on-site training.
