Dangerous Goods - Warehouse & Handling
This course is designed for people who handle and load dangerous goods, and prepare dangerous goods declarations for land transport, as part of their job. The purpose of this course is to provide you with the skills and knowledge required to safely handle, load and store dangerous goods and to give you an understanding of the different classes of dangerous goods and their hazards, along with your health and safety obligations when handling dangerous goods at your workplace.

At the completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Identify the responsibilities of everybody involved in the handling of dangerous goods
- Provide knowledge and understanding of legislation around the handling of dangerous goods
- Apply the technical information requirements in the NZS 5433 in the safe transport of dangerous goods on land
- Identify risks to people, equipment and the environment when handling dangerous goods
- Understand the documentation and declaration requirements relating to transport of dangerous goods on land
- Identify the packaging, markings and labelling requirements for Dangerous Goods in Limited Quantities (DGLQ)
- Demonstrate the segregation procedures
- Identify correct storage and loading of dangerous goods for land transport
- Explain placarding and how and when it is used
- Understand how to use the emergency response information
- Understand the risk management procedures in the event of an emergency
- Understand the importance of Safety Data Sheets for land transport.
NOTE: This course does not provide training for the Dangerous Goods (D) Endorsement, or training for Hazardous Substance under Regulation 4.5 for Workplace Chemical Handling Training Basic or Comprehensive, and Certified Handlers Compliance Certification.
